Within academia people holding PhDs (and it has that glaring word there called Philosophy) aggressively suppress any attempts at philosophy in the academy. It is all about "finding solutions" to "real world problems". With the Kafkaesque research funding from the various bodies, such an outlook becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. I kept pondering on this, and I think Zizek, with his "withdrawal" from action, is a kind of modern Socrates.
