Flying-Ears Love

I don't know how many times I mentioned that the name for this blog was suggested by the name of Mario Vargas Llosa's novel, The Notebooks of Don Rigoberto (Los Cuadernos de Don Rigoberto). I bought the book in Blackpool in the summer of 2004 and devoured it once I finished my MA dissertation, in September. I returned to it a few times afterwards, and each time I read "Flying-Ears Love" with a special kind of attention. "Flying-Ears Love" is a love letter, a sweet nonsense, a praise to a lover's big ears. The years of adoration for this letter, for the novel and its author have finally led to me deciding to record the love letters from the novel, and quite naturally, the first one I recorded was "Flying-Ears Love".
